About Our Gyms in San Diego, CA
Athletic Training Redefined
Real coaches. Real community. Real results.
CrossFit ATR was built on the belief that fitness should be functional, accessible, and actually fun. Two San Diego, CA locations, a dedicated coaching team that gets to know you over time, and a community that shows up for each other every single day.
A Community Like No Other
CrossFit ATR's community includes Special Forces veterans, full-time parents, doctors, lawyers, police officers, firefighters, nurses, elite athletes, students, and retirees, all training side by side every day. On any given morning a class might have someone on their first week of fitness right next to someone who's been training for a decade. Both get a great workout. That's what good programming and good coaching make possible.
We serve members from across San Diego, CA, including Kearny Mesa, Clairemont, Serra Mesa, Linda Vista, Pacific Beach, La Jolla, Mission Valley, Allied Gardens, Grantville, Normal Heights, North Park, Tierrasanta, La Mesa, and beyond.

Coaching That Actually Knows You
One of CrossFit ATR's biggest strengths is our small, dedicated coaching team. Because our coaches work consistently with the same members over time, they get to know people as individuals. That means real-time calls on when to push someone harder and when to pull back because recovery, stress, or movement quality needs to take priority.
Our staff has worked with thousands of people across every fitness background you can imagine. They've seen how different body types, injury histories, mobility restrictions, past surgeries, and athletic backgrounds all affect training. No two people move the same, and the coaching here reflects that.
Every coach holds CrossFit Level 1 or Level 2 certification, with many carrying additional credentials in Olympic Lifting, Endurance, Gymnastics, and Kids CrossFit.

New to CrossFit? Start Here.
No hype, no jargon — just clear answers to the things prospects are often too nervous to ask.
Do I need to be in shape to start?
Absolutely not. Most of our members had never touched a barbell before joining. You don’t have to be "fit" to start — you just have to show up. Every workout is scaled to your current ability by a coach who’s right there with you.
What is crossfit, exactly?
A well-rounded, constantly varied fitness program built on functional movements — lifting, jumping, running, squatting, pushing, pulling. Every class blends weightlifting, cardio & endurance, gymnastics, and mobility to build lean muscle, endurance, and total-body athleticism.
What's a wod?
WOD stands for Workout of the Day — the structured daily workout you'll do in class, guided by a coach. Every WOD balances strength and cardio, intensity and recovery, skill work and foundations. There's a lot of thought behind it.
Can Anyone Do CrossFit?
Yes — we coach people in their teens through their 80s: total beginners, former athletes, and people recovering from injury or managing chronic conditions. You have to be willing to work and be coached. We’ve got everything else covered.
Is there a contract?
No long-term contracts, no initiation fees, no cancellation penalties. All memberships are month-to-month — we simply ask for a 30-day notice if you need to cancel.
can i drop in while visiting?
Yes. Drop-ins are $28/day or $80/week for athletes with 2+ months of CrossFit experience. Purchase online or arrive 10–15 minutes early.
You Don't Need to Be Fit to Start. You Just Need to Start.
Nervous? Everyone is on day one. Your first session is just a conversation — meet a coach, see the gym, and find out if we're your fit. No pressure, no commitment.
